Rooks Tower - Student Housing Project
This student housing project explored the relationship between solid and void through a conceptual model inspired by the game of chess. Drawing from the grid-like logic and strategic contrasts of the chessboard, the design balances private and communal space for over 85 residents. Solid masses represent individual living units, providing privacy and retreat, while the voids carve out shared areas meant to foster social interaction and community engagement. The result is a rhythmic, spatial composition that blends function with symbolism, creating a dynamic and thoughtful living environment.
