Spanish Custom Guest House (Hand Drawn)
This project began with an in-depth, hand-drawn study and reconstruction of the Spanish Custom House, using only pencil and paper. Through this detailed analysis, I explored the building’s proportions, architectural language, and intricate details, developing a deep understanding of its design principles. From that foundation, I designed a guest house that would complement and honor the original structure. The inspiration emerged organically from the study itself—allowing the historic character of the Spanish Custom House to inform the scale, materiality, and aesthetic of the new addition. The result is a thoughtful extension that feels both timeless and site-specific, rooted in tradition yet designed for contemporary use.
