Live/Work Rinker Studio – Adaptive Reuse Project
In this project, we were tasked with transforming the existing Rinker classroom on the University of Miami campus into a live/work unit for a single resident. I chose to design the space for a photographer, tailoring the layout to support both living and creative needs. The interior was modified to include a darkroom for film development, as well as a studio space for shooting and editing. A double-height ceiling allowed for a strong visual connection between the two levels, with the upper floor housing the kitchen and bedroom overlooking the work area below. The design emphasized spatial continuity and programmatic clarity within a compact footprint.
